As an International Center,
RAIA offers a multicultural and multifaceted space for experiential
body-centered and artistic workshops of diverse traditions as catalysts
for expanding human understanding. For co-founders and directors,
the role of this alternative melting pot of East and West extends
to that of a research institute, which observes processes of transformation
in nature and the individual. The diversity of cultural heritage and
the natural expression of all living beings to access wholeness is
honored and invited to take expression at RAIA.
The Space is designed to evoke the rare occasion of a visit to an
ancient private palace. The baroque setting stimulates the senses,
mind and heart while mystically merging with the rough minimalism
of a modern loft setting. The complex includes a library lounge, an
open stage-studio area and is equipped with a dining juice bar/boutique
and few bathrooms. It is a smoke-free and shoes-off area, which can
accommodate over 150 people and may be transformed into a theatre,
dance studio, yoga studio, exhibit space, gallery, event hall, lecture
space, meditation room or a temple for self-mastery. Having entered
through an antique Middle East/Asian temple door, the visitor is greeted
by a lounge showcasing a rich collection of books unique to this center
as well as a gallery of sacred art i.e. murals, floor paintings. The
high-ceiling drapes open unto a vast open stage, maintained as a sacred
space.
This visionary center offers a space for performance, lectures and
professional organizations holding events, exhibits, and seminars
and training programs. The space is available throughout the year
for daytime, evening and overnight events. Instructors, artists, dancers,
actors, healers and storytellers to bring full expression to their
perceptions and talents through innovative teaching and counseling/therapy
programs for the community. Businesses who seek a less formal setting
are encouraged to hold gatherings, ceremonies and events.
Rumi Museum - The Muses: The Latin word 'Museum'
literally translated from Greek means a place of study or contemplation
for the nine muses of inspiration. The name 'Museum' was inspired
by the ancient tradition of Mystery schools which initiated one to
a journey of Self-Mastery. Museum is a treasure chamber for unlimited
information where fact and fiction are validated and have a chance
to thrive interwoven. The main objective of 'Museum' is not only to
awaken inspiration, but to offer a space in time for boundless expression
and self-realization. It offers the possibility of delving into a
new academia to encourage spiritual inquiry through alternative explorations
of science, culture and the unconscious. The nine muses watch over
the realms of Health, Art, Education, each defined as indispensable
and sacred. In this way, RAIA encourages and promotes the revival
of ancient holistic systems of health, nutrition and self-development
that begin with the body. The individual is guided in cultivating
and preserving their own muse and nurturing an understanding, amity
and tolerance toward all forms of religion, philosophy, and esoteric
beliefs.
The Stage hosts an aesthetically inspirational space for the visual
and performing arts as well as classes and lectures. Museum invites
the muse within, whether healer, teacher, hero/heroine, visionary
to surface. The open stage, apt to metamorphose, shift, revolve summons
freedom to unleash creative expression by challenging the conventional
notions of stage and audience. It is maintained as Rumi envisioned
it, a sacred ashram-like space which transcends boundaries by being
regarded as complimentary to all traditions and philosophies of life
inviting expression through diverse traditions, stimulating growth
and expansion of innate potential while grounding personal vision.
Welcome on a journey inward, one that begins with finding your voice
and ends with a commitment to expressing that voice.
When you are in RAIA no one is interested in what you do for a living.
We want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting
your heart's longing as Rumi dared to do so.
In RAIA we are not interested in your age. We want to know if you
are willing to take risk, looking like a fool for love, for your dream,
for the adventure of being alive as Rumi did.
We want to know if you can live with failure, yours or anyone else's,
and still remain in the standing posture, on the edge of the world
and shout to the universe, "Yes I am here and I matter!
We are not interested in who you know or how you came to be here.
We want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with us
and not shrink back.
We do not care where or what or with whom you have studied. We want
to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.
Life-Design Library Rumi Museum will offer the possibility of delving
into the Life Design Library, America's first complete holistic library
to explore the wonders of the universe and research human potential.
Browse through a rich collection of books and view sacred art-in-progress;
mandala floor painting, sacred calligraphy mural, spiritual relics
collection from different cultures. This new version of the humanities
is to encourage spiritual inquiry into the human mysteries through
alternative explorations of science, culture and the unconscious and
develop an understanding, amity and tolerance toward all forms of
religion, philosophy, esoteric beliefs.
Visiting, Reading, Lounging Hours will be announced.
Volunteers Needed : Donations and Volunteer support are welcomed and
greatly appreciated. The Library is in need of volunteers to develop

I am part of the load
Not rightly balanced
I drop off in the grass,
like the old Cave-sleepers, to browse
wherever I fall.
For hundreds of thousands of years I have been dust-grains
floating and flying in the will of the air,
often forgetting ever being
in that state, but in sleep
I migrate back. I spring loose
from the four-branched, time -and-space cross,
this waiting room.
I walk into a huge pasture
I nurse the milk of millennia
Everyone does this in different ways.
Knowing that conscious decisions
and personal memory
are much too small a place to live,
every human being streams at night
into the loving nowhere, or during the day,
in some absorbing work.
